"It served the purpose of an overnight stop, was basic though would look for a more sound proof hotel to get a quieter nights rest. " (108005127)

Very echo-y and noisy and you could hear the people in other rooms along the corridor.

"Would definitely stay here again. It was just what we required for an overnight stop and very convenient for euro tunnel. Don't think I'd choose to stay for longer than a few nights though. " (97102604)

Great for easy access to Euro tunnel terminal - 5 mins Comfortable rooms On site parking Restaurant on site

None really - we couldn't get a "family" room so had to have our grand-daughter in a room with us; they had squeezed in a single bed next to the double so it was a little cramped but o.k. for an overnight stop.

    "Overall good." (97779149)

Good value, handy for the Eurotunnel, comfortable bed, good shower, most staff very helpful and friendly, good restaurant.

Room smelled of stale cigarette smoke, one member of check-in staff unfriendly, room slightly cramped with the baby's travel cot in there.

"We have stayed at the cottage hotel on many occasions over the last 4 years. " (108029405)

Staff very helpful. Food very good and reasonably priced. Very convenient location. Very accommodating to us travelling with our dog.

No real bad points as far as we're concerned except when we first stayed at the hotel 4 years ago the breakfast coffee was freshly made. Now this has been replaced by a coffee machine which makes undrinkable coffee.

Easy to find; close to the ferry terminus; clean; dog friendly; good value for money; manned reception for easy early morning check-out.

Walls were paper thin and the general ambience was one of being a little tired but overall a pleasant experience.

The smoking ban now in place! And the pleasant ambience.

The instant coffee I was initially fobbed off with at breakfast. However, when I complained I was given excellent coffee from the other side of the counter.

this was our 3rd visit. The past two have been good value and we have returned however we will not return again

Problem with water from wash basin plug hole draining down and coming up plug hole of shower.Hairdryer not working.Remote for T.V. not working in spite of getting the batteries changed.Worst of all, very poor service in restaurant by disinterested waitress. Long wait for main course and not even offered a dessert menu or coffee

Staff friendly and helpful. Good central location. good restraunt and parking facilities. Good atmosphere in hotel. Travelled with friends, the menue did not cater for Vegan's (Vegetarian - no dairy products) Howerver, the hotel was able to accommodate this request, and although a limited choice it was acceptable.

    Cannot think of any.

  • 4/10 Ian ( Mature couple)

from Milton keynes , GB  on  July 7, 2008

"The hotel was very basic, and not worth the money that they charged. The food choice is very poor. Considering that Calais is a port that lives off people travelling, the hotel does not accomodate `out of hours` travellers." (97301370)

    Close to euro tunnel

Very poor menu choice if you did not like sea food. My wife is a vegetarian, and there was nothing at all for her to eat from the restaurant menu. Also, the restaurant closes very early (21.00 hrs), which means that if you arrive after that time you cannot get any food.

"A very conveniently placed hotel with good basic facilities and very clean." (97518469)

The Cottage is a very good basic hotel, excellent for an overnight stay, with a pleasant restaurant which serves good food at reasonable prices.

The only fault we could find is that the shower facilities are not condusive to elderly guests in that there are no grab rails and one has a fear of falling

  • 8/10 Roger ( Mature couple)

It was clean and, although compact, had everything we needed.

    The hairdryer was rubbish!

The meals are also good value and the staff very friendly especially if you have the pleasantries in French.Since we last stayed it had been spruced up with a lick of paint which was overdue."
